About Us
|
RABBITS are the UK's 3rd most popular pet and sadly recent investigations conclude also the worst neglected and abused. Rabbit Jumping GB offers an enjoyable, safe way to improve the life of rabbits
everywhere. RABBIT JUMPING is a sport with foundations in Sweden, and later adopted by the USA, and Great Britain. RJGB plans to showcase the sport and raise awareness about rabbit welfare at events across the country. At present there is a campaign in place to call for the government to introduce a code of practice for all rabbits kept as domestic pets. RJGB supports this petition, and believes rabbit jumping will assist in spreading the word about the welfare of domestic rabbits and introduce alternative ways of keeping rabbits enriched, happy and healthy without prejudice or judgement. RABBIT WELFARE organisations agree that rabbit jumping is a great source of enrichment for our highly intelligent rabbit friends. Research shows that rabbits respond to clicker and reward based training which are the positive training methods we encourage to be used. The emotional, mental and physical needs of the rabbit are all met during this practice and enhance the life of rabbits. TRAINING takes time and during these sessions it is a good opportunity to health check the rabbit and build strong bonds, raising the owners awareness to any irregularities. This sport meets the 5 freedoms which have formed part of the Animal Welfare Act since 2006. OUR AIM: is to strengthen the owner-rabbit bond, by: (1) Educating the public about the care requirements and suitable living conditions for pet rabbits. (2) Raising awareness about the national petition calling for the government to introduce a code of practice for all rabbits kept as domestic pets (3) Offering a clear understanding of the needs of rabbits in a way that is non-judgmental and will only serve to. RABBIT JUMPING GB is a club in its early beginnings, but with your support we can make a giant leap for pet rabbits. |
